The Chattering Skulls or Bouncing Skulls (original model sheet name) are disembodied skulls that appear as enemy creatures throughout the Dragon's Lair (franchise), debuting in the original Dragon's Lair and appearing in both Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp and Dragon's Lair 3D: Return to the Lair.
The skulls attack Dirk the Daring by swarming him in overwhelming numbers. Being floating partial skeletons, the Chattering Skulls share visual similarities with the flying spectre Crypt Creeps which also debuted in the same stage. The Skulls could be considered variations on the Creeps alongside the large Skeletal Hands.
In the original game, they first appear in the Mausoleum/Crypt Creeps location of The Castle, waiting in a vault at the end of a corridor in the tombs where Dirk also has to deal with the Crypt Creeps, flesh-eating bugs and giant skeletal claws (possibly belonging to the reanimated skeleton of a dragon).
In Dragon's Lair II: Time War, the Skulls are encountered in the remnants of the Treasure Room inside the apparent skeletal remains of Singe the Dragon. They attack Dirk when he attempts to fill his helmet with water in order to activate the Time Machine.
