DAPHNE is a multiple arcade laserdisc emulator which can emulate precisely the original 1983 version of Dragon's Lair for play on PC, in addition to other titles including Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp and two versions of Space Ace. Developed by Matt Ownby for exclusively non-commercial use, DAPHNE requires the ROM files plus an original laserdisc to run.[1]

Alternatively, an MPEG-2 video stream and Ogg Vorbis audio stream can be substituted for the laserdisc. These streams can be generated from the original laserdisc or from Digital Leisure's 2002 "Dragon’s Lair 20th Anniversary Special Edition” DVD-Video discs, secured with permission from the company.[2]

New Wave Toys' Dragon's Lair X Replicade[3] and Space Ace X Replicade[4] releases run original LaserDisc ROMs on the DAPHNE emulator and feature a fully functional digital score board, officially licensed by Digital Leisure and Dragon’s Lair LLC.

The emulator takes its name from the franchise heroine Princess Daphne.
