The Ice Monsters (also referred to as Ice Creatures) are villainous characters exclusive to the Ruby-Spears Dragon's Lair animated series, who serve as loyal minions of the Snow Witch in the episode "The Snow Witch." They reside with the Snow Witch inside a castle in the Valerian Mountains.
The creatures appear to be composed almost entirely of ice with limbs that function like arms. Though not possessing visible limbs for legs, the creatures are able to move across most terrains, but prefer snow or ice. The creatures are large in size, big enough to hold humans in their limbs. They are able to freeze humans upon direct contact in a few seconds. They are vulnerable to blunt force strikes, which cause them to shatter. Heat and salt may also cause them to melt.
When the Snow Witch learned that Dirk the Daring had found a blue liquid that transforms fire into ice, she desired to have all of the liquid for herself. Together with her Ice Monsters, the witch intruded into King Ethelred's castle to demand the formula. Not satisfied with the single vial of liquid they gave her, she took Dirk and Ethelred away with her to hold as prisoners until Princess Daphne brought her more. When trying to escape, the Ice Monsters pursue Dirk and Ethelred through the castle, attempting to freeze them. After Dirk and Ethelred escape the castle, the Witch and the Ice Monsters ambushed them upon the snowy mountains. Ultimately, the villains are defeated when Dirk throws salt onto the Snow Witch and dispatches the remaining Ice Monsters with his sword.
