The Patrol Pups (also referred to as Space Pups) are enemies that first appeared in the original Space Ace arcade game. These green, antlered security dogs chase after Dexter as he navigates the corridors and intersections of the space ship parking lot near the center of Commander Borf's Space Station. After energizing, Ace is able to knock the dogs’ heads together with his bare hands. Other Pups are seemingly vaporized by the stage’s security ray hazards.
Two pups function as Borf's personal guard dogs in the television series, answering to the names of Gnasher and Masher.

- Early Magicom promotional materials and the Tele-Story: Space Ace book refer to the beasts as "Space Pups." The "Patrol Pup" name was favored for the Ruby-Spears animated series adaptation.
