Software-projects-ltd

Software Projects was a computer game development company based in England which was started by Manic Miner developer Matthew Smith, Alan Maton and Colin Roach. One of the earliest game companies in the United Kingdom, the company was founded in 1983 when Alan Maton and Soo Maton left Bug-Byte to set up Software Projects with Matthew Smith, joined by sixteen-year old Chris Cannon, also coming from Bug-Byte. It brought several U.S. titles to the UK market and UK-based systems such as the Spectrum, and remained Matthew Smith's publisher for many years.

It released two 8-bit home computer titles based upon the Dragon's Lair arcade release, beginning with Dragon's Lair in 1986 (for Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64) and continued in 1987 by Dragon's Lair Part II: Escape from Singe's Castle, pseudo-sequel containing 8 more levels inspired by the original game.

Following the closure of the company in 1988, future home computer ports of the Dragon's Lair franchise were developed and released by ReadySoft.
