Trivia[]
- Contrary to the official episode synopsis, Dirk makes a bargain directly with the Giant, not Cinge.
- The "Black Hill of Arddu" is an apparent reference to the Clogwyn Du'r Arddu (translated popularly as "Black Stone" or "Black Cliff" of Arddu) in Wales, where according to legend those who spent a night under it would emerge in the morning either an inspired bard or insane.[2]
- The Giant's name is likely a reference to Welsh mythology, specifically the legend of Gwydion who lived in his castle Caer Wydion.
- Daphne and Timothy successfully navigate several traps and obstacles of Cinge's castle to reach the dragon's lair, which parallel scenes from the original game, including the Cauldron Ghost and the underground river.
- As Dirk's body slowly emaciates due to the effects of the Black Hill of Arddu, it begins to resemble a corpse or skeleton, similar to the Game Over animation from the original game.
- Despite receiving lessons from a music teacher, Daphne is shown to be awful at playing the violin.
